No rhyme or reason to the order of these images, take them as you find them. Many will be linked to a post from my blog, many are from #OneImageOneDayOneLife showcasing an image every day of the year between January and December 2015... and the rest? Well they are just life as I capture it wherever I am - because life is for living. Enjoy my photo diary and feel free to comment!

The Basilica di San Zeno (also known as San Zeno Maggiore or San Zenone) is a minor basilica of Verona, Northern Italy constructed between 967-1398 AD. Its fame rests partly on its Romanesque architecture and partly upon the tradition that its crypt was the place of the marriage of Shakespeare‘s Romeo and Juliet. It stands adjacent to a Benedictine abbey, both dedicated to St Zeno of Verona.

Been out on my bike with three new mates today, a lovely leisurely 85k from North Stainley into Ripon, across to Boroughbridge, up to Linton on Ouse, across the old Aldwark toll bridge and on to Benningbrough Hall for a spot of lunch at the farm shop before cycling back and taking in Ripon Races as we passed. What is not to love, Yorkshire, a Trek Carbon road bike, some mates and a few hours to amble along, love it. Serious photography will resume soon!

Stirling Castle, located in Stirling, is one of the largest and most important castles, both historically and architecturally, inScotland. The castle sits atop Castle Hill, an intrusive crag, which forms part of the Stirling Sill geological formation. It is surrounded on three sides by steep cliffs, giving it a strong defensive position. Its strategic location, guarding what was, until the 1890s, the farthest downstream crossing of the River Forth, has made it an important fortification from the earliest times. I thought we all deserved a stay at Shangri-La Hotel, Vancouver.
As you tuck into a sumptuous breakfast, a sweeping view of the vibrant metropolis that is Vancouver unfolds before you. Settling into your tastefully furnished surroundings, you catch a glimpse of the majestic firs of Stanley Park in the distance. A leisurely stroll along the sapphire blue waters of its lakes would be heavenly. Nestled between the Coast Mountain Range and Pacific Ocean, there is certainly plenty to do in this urban oasis. You plan to take it a day at a time. For now, Shangri-La Hotel, Vancouver, beckons.

Carrying on the theme of work from yesterday, why am I sat at my Macbook in the kitchen, not being able to sleep and reflecting on all those things that go around in your head in the middle of the night? What is it about the modern world that means we are never really 100% at work or at rest or even at play, just always somewhere suspended between them all, not being able to do any one of the three funtions justice, or is it just me?

This is an old one, I am not entirely sure where this picture was taken, I guess it wasin York at British Rail Engineering works, designing bridges for the railway, around the late 1950's or early 1960's. I do know that my dad's first job offer letter was dated 9th September 1957, to train as an Engineer under the chief civil engineer, British Railways, York; telling him to bring a setsquare, pen and ink on his first day of work, so I would like to think that it was around that time 60 or so years ago.

An early start and a good excuse to go to Another Place - a piece of modern sculpture by Antony Gormley. It consists of 100 [1]cast iron sculptures of the artist's own body, facing towards the sea.
After being displayed at several locations in Europe, it become permanently erected at Crosby Beach in northwestern England. The work was controversial in the local area due to issues such as possible economic gain or environmental damage from tourism. A meeting on 7 March 2007 by Sefton Council accepted proposals that would allow the sculptures to be kept permanently at Crosby Beach in place of being moved to New York.[2][3]

Setting off from the waters of Vancouver harbour in a six seat floatplane to Whistler, British Columbia, was one of the best travel experiences I have ever had - there is no better way to go from A to B, everyone should try this once!
If you have about $1,500 dollars to spare (2009 prices, may have gone up a bit!) then there is no better way to transport your loved ones from downtown Vancouver harbout, up through 120 km. of amazing countryside to Whistler, British Columbia, Canada.
I guarantee you willl not regret this investment – charter your own pilot and plane with Whistler Air, it is an experience that will stay with you forever!

Second of Feb, switched to individual blog post per day here for #oneimageonedayonelife – not sure if it’s the right strategy to be honest!
Changing my formats today after advice from Blogger chums, #oneimageonedayonelife will become a daily post as from February, so keep an eye out for me! This shot was taken at a rooftop pool in Barcelona around 2007, the Hotel has become quite famous i think - it was nice back then and we stayed a few times! http://www.grandhotelcentral.com/

Temple Mill is a Grade I listed building built by Ignatious Bonomi between the years 1838 – 1843 for John Marshall and Company for use as a flax spinning mill.
The building represents the zenith of the Marshall Mills flax business in Leeds and had acquired a legendary reputation within a few years of its construction.
The Egyptian design has been attributed to the Egyptologist Joseph Bonomi, the architect's brother, Egypt having an important flax industry in the ancient world.

Another day, another tune to dance to. I used to play the Saxophone, this Yamaha YSS 62 Soprano was a fine instrument - I owned it for 20 + years, then sold it for £3,000 to fund a family trip to Sweden. A wise move.

Being back at work is never easy after a holiday, if you look carefully you may see my senior colleagues hiding in the shadows of the old flax mill in Holbeck Urban Village, Leeds. Back to the grindstone, at the height of the Industrial revolution, 1,400 children worked in this dark, satanic mill.

Hello 2015.
I want this year to be positive and filled with fun, so I thought of a blogging activity that would pose both a practical and mental challenge for the 365 days ahead, as well as being a showcase for my photographs, old and new.
I am going to post and tweet one image each day of this year. One image, one day, one life.
Every image will mean something to me, and I hope bring some happiness to you, here is to looking forward in 2015, Happy New Year indeed.

I don't know much about this photo, other than it was taken by a friend of my parents in the late 50's before they were married, I guess they would be about the age of our children now, which makes you think.

I was curious if you ever considered changing the structure of your site?
Its very well written; I love what youve got to say. But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect with it better.
Youve got an awful lot of text for only having 1
or 2 pictures. Maybe you could space it out better?
